CREMLIN WORKSHOP

Workshop: "Novel Applications of Exawatt Laser Sources"
(Conveners: Efim Khazanov, Institute of Applied Physics, RAS, Russia; Alexander Pukhov, Duesseldorf University, Germany; Gerard Mourou, Laboratoire d'Optique Appliquee, Ecole Polytechnique, France) to be held within the framework of the EC Project CREMLIN under grant agreement No.654166.

Particular emphasis during the workshop will be placed on research opportunities provided by XCELS, under the auspices of the IAP, CEA and ELI project participants with contribution of ICUIL, IZEST, LASERLAB-EUROPE and others. The laser system XCELS with sub-Exawatt power currently developed at IAP RAS will be a unique tool for studying new physical phenomena at the interface of strong-field physics and high-energy physics. An international network of users will emerge around XCELS to create a program of experimental research. To arrive at such user network a guided cooperation of researchers working on scientific applications of Exawatt laser radiation is needed. This is actually the principal goal of the Workshop. It is intended to focus on the following relevant issues:

  • Probing the vacuum nonlinearity with superstrong fields
  • Nonlinear dynamics of particles in laser fields and their radiation
  • QED cascades and interaction of laser radiation with electron-positron plasma
  • Secondary sources of high-energy particles and gamma-radiation

If you are interested in participating in the Workshop, please submit the registration form and indicate that you are planning to participate in the CREMLIN Workshop.

If you have questions concerning organization of the Workshop and your participation, please feel free to contact Nadezhda Krivatkina, CREMLIN project manager at IAP RAS: krivat@appl.sci-nnov.ru
